I run a marketing agency. How can I track QR code scans and analytics separately for each client?
If you're managing multiple clients, you can create separate folders or projects inside your account and assign each client's QR codes to their respective folder. This way, you'll be able to track scans and analytics for each client individually without mixing up the data.
How to Create a Folder:
- Go to Dashboard.
- On the sidebar, click on the Folders menu.
- Click on the + Create New Folder button.
- A New folder pop-up will appear; name the folder and click Create.
How to Add QR Codes to the Folder:
- Individual QR codes: Move them to the appropriate folder using the Move to folder option, or create new QR codes directly inside the folder.
- Bulk QR codes: Create separate folders for bulk uploads as they cannot be moved individually after creation.
Important Folder Limitations:
- Individual and bulk QR codes cannot be in the same folder.
- Once a QR code or bulk is moved to a folder, it can be moved to another folder but not outside of folders.
- Nested folders are not allowed - you can only create folders at the main level.
- Plan your folder structure carefully before moving QR codes.
Viewing Analytics by Folder:
- Go to Folders in your dashboard.
- Click View Scan Analytics on any folder to see combined analytics for all QR codes in that folder.
- Analytics include total scans, geographic data, device information, and time-based trends.
Analytics Integration: You can integrate client-specific tracking tool IDs for each folder:
- Click More Options (3 dots) for any folder.
- Select Ads & Analytics Integrations.
- Add the tracking IDs you want for your client from these options:
- Google Analytics ID(s)
- Google Re-targeting ID(s)
- Facebook Pixel ID(s)
- LinkedIn Tracking ID(s)
- Pinterest ID(s)
- Google Ads ID(s)
- Click Save to apply the integration.
- The linked IDs will be integrated in all QR code landing pages in that folder, and you'll start to see analytics in those tools when scans happen.
UTM Parameters Tracking: QRCodeChimp allows you to integrate UTM parameters for various QR code solutions, such as digital business cards and multi-URL QR codes. To set up UTM tracking:
- Go to the Design/Settings tab of your QR code generator page.
- Enable UTM tracking.
- Add the UTM parameters you want to track for your client.
- When enabled, the UTM parameters are added to all the links on those pages for better campaign attribution.
Export Options:
- Export all analytics data in Excel format from folder analytics.
- Apply date filters to export data for specific time periods.
- All available analytics data is exported - there's no option to filter by data type.
Sub-accounts: For better management, you can create sub-accounts for each client. This keeps their QR codes and analytics completely separate, making it easier to track each client's scans and performance individually.
Sub-account Benefits:
- Complete separation of client data and analytics.
- Individual login access for clients if needed.
- Available from PRO plan onwards.
- Each sub-account has its own dashboard and settings.
White Labeling for Clients: With ULTIMA plan, all client QR codes can use your agency's white-labeled domain, providing a professional branded experience while maintaining separate tracking.
Best Practices:
- Use clear naming conventions for folders (e.g., "ClientName - Individual QRs", "ClientName - Bulk Campaign").
- Maintain separate folders for individual and bulk QR codes for each client.
- Add only the client-specific tracking IDs you need for each folder.
- Set up UTM parameters in Design/Settings tab for better campaign attribution and tracking.
- Plan your folder structure before moving QR codes as they cannot be moved outside folders once placed.
- Choose folders for simple separation, sub-accounts for complete client isolation.
- Regularly export analytics data for client reporting.
